The Social Network for Project Managers

I have managed many .Net and other Microsoft based projects over the last 8 years.  However, our IT department is switching over to Java based code.  Does anyone have any pointers on adjustments that may be necessary to manage Java based projects?

Hi Joe - Iam in Java world for last 12 years and managing mutiple projects. I dont see any challenge when it comes to managing a Java project and i believe Project Management principles would remain same across the platforms. How ever i suggest learning the basics of Java and deployment methodologies and other Operating Systems systems(like Unix, Linux, Sun Solaris) before acting as the Project Manager

This would help you to judge if the concerns raised by developers are geniune and also helps in guesstimate the efforts required for project delivery
